This Textbook is poised to become the reference for interventional practitioners. There are four volumes dedicated to diagnosis, coronary interventions, structural heart disease, peripheral interventions and perspectives.

Still we realised that there was a key element missing. We needed one more dedi- cated individual to carry on this group endeavour. Eric introduced us to Rodney De Palma, a brilliant interventional cardiolo- gy fellow who had been working with him for two years. And the essential actors of such a book are many.

There are the many authors, without whom of course this textbook would not have existed. The Association came into exis- tence before the launching of the book, the legitimacy of the textbook is guaran- teed by the EAPCI and the textbook will be, in part, our contribution to the eLearning platform of the European Society of Cardiology. Start- ing today, under your scrutiny, this textbook will truly come to life.

Constructing this textbook has been a huge endeavour, the fruit of team- work within the PCR Family involving many people from the publishing team at Europa. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Christoph Naber and Andreas Baumbach as the multimedia Editors for the interactive portion of this project.
